The design proposes a redevelopment strategy for the abandoned Victoria Hospital, in Southside of Glasgow.
The proposal reimagines the site as a key link between Battlefield Rest, a major point of confluence in the Southside, and the city landmark and open space of Queens Park. A combination of social amenities and public spaces are organised around a central promenade, drawing activities into the heart of the site and thus integrating the new development with neighbouring areas. The listed buildings are to be converted into residential units.
A more diverse range of housing typologies is accommodated on the rest of the site. Public amenities are to include a cafe, swimming pool, roof garden, athletic facilities and amenities for communal outside leisure. The negative impact of transport through the site is reduced by the creation of an underground car park.
